At Blue Recruitment we know we have a responsibility to ensure that the people we ask to work in your school or organisation have been thoroughly vetted. We supply a range of staff to schools and organisations and you can be assured that all our agency workers are subject to the same rigorous standards.
We can confirm that Blue Recruitment fully meets all DCSF safeguarding requirements in terms of our vetting and clearance procedures. We adhere to all of the statutory standards of recruitment behaviour laid down in the ‘Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education’ Guidelines issued by the DCSF in January 2007.
Jarrod Gaines attended and passed the NCSL safer recruitment course this year organized by Education Leeds and is the named person at Blue Recruitment that ensures the highest standards in children’s safeguarding are maintained.
The directors of Blue Recruitment are pleased to provide a full written guarantee that Blue Recruitment conducts the following checks on all applicants.
CRB / Police records - Blue Recruitment is registered with the CRB to conduct checks directly. Ian Kennedy is the lead signatory for these purposes. We conduct CRB checks on all our teachers in all cases. If there is information held about the candidate, we will discuss this with you prior to any placement.
Identity checks – We conduct a full identity assessment including sight of 3 separate types of ID. We only accept original documentation for this purpose.
Overseas police checks – We obtain police checks on candidates who have lived outside of the UK for more than 6 months at a time in the last 5 years.
L99, POCAL or POVA checks - We conduct a list99 check online using a secure website in all cases.
Qualifications - We confirm qualifications of all our teachers directly with the GTC as well taking sight of all original certifications. Overseas qualifications are checked with NARIC.
Assignment Confirmation – Once we have identified a candidate for your immediate vacancy we will send an email booking confirmation. The email will include the name of the candidate supplied as well as details of the CRB disclosure that we hold. Specifically, this will be the disclosure number and the date on which the disclosure was issued.
Safer Recruitment Certificate - Individual certificates further detail the vetting that we have carried out on a candidate and will be sent to you via secure email by your consultant. These include dated check details and a photograph of the candidate.
Identity Cards - All of our staff carry Blue Recruitment ID cards which they should show on arrival and wear at all times in the school. The card itself consists of their photo, CRB number and an authorized signature from a staff member at Blue. This signature is your guarantee that all the checks have been carried out.
Detailed Vetting.
As well as conducting all the statutory checks listed above we conduct our own “360 degrees assessment” on all applications. This process was put in place in April 2008 which ensures that all parts of the application and assessment process is taken into account and cross checked. This assessment includes face to face interviewing where we account for any gaps in work history, and make further recruitment assessments based on behaviour-based interviewing.
We ensure that all our interviewers conduct a full risk assessment on the fully completed application form. Every applicant completes a registration form which follows the complies with all DCSF and DTI requirements. We keep copies of all documents, interview notes, as well as take up at least two references on every applicant. We continue a process of performance monitoring in all cases. All the applications are kept within our offices.
Currently, Interviews are conducted by either Jarrod Gaines or Ian Kennedy who together have over 17 years experience in interviewing and CV assessment.
